The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has conducted annual opinion polls of the Lithuanian diaspora since 2012. The polls explore the relationship of the diaspora with Lithuania, its expectations on strengthening connections with Lithuania and how to best improve policies. The questions in the survey encompass national identity, Lithuanian education, citizenship, involvement in Lithuanian life, a possible return to Lithuania, communication, diaspora policy and others. Surveys typically involve more than 2,000 respondents from 70 countries.
