The event held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on May 29 in honor of Africa Day was a special tribute to one of Lithuania’s most prominent missionaries – Father Hermanas Jonas Šulcas. He was awarded the "For Merits to Lithuania of Lithuanians Worldwide" honor, given for his outstanding contribution to promoting Lithuania’s name globally and fostering humanistic values.
Information Presented to Returnees from Australia, Canada, Finland, Switzerland, and Ukraine
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs consultation center “Grįžtu LT,” in cooperation with Lithuanian diplomatic missions and competent institutions, has prepared five new informational leaflets for those returning to Lithuania from Australia, Canada, Finland, Switzerland, and Ukraine. These information packages contain useful advice and important details for compatriots living in the mentioned countries to help them prepare for their return to Lithuania.
Discover Summer Camps in Lithuania
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with Lithuanian municipalities, the Lithuanian Riflemen’s Union, the Ateitininkai organization, and Lithuanian Scouting, has prepared a list of summer camps for children and youth that are open to the Lithuanian diaspora. The goal of this initiative is to encourage diaspora families to plan summer trips to Lithuania, and for children to participate in enriching, educational camps that strengthen their connection with Lithuania.
Attention to Diaspora Policy at the Municipalities Seminar in Vilnius
At the municipalities seminar held in Vilnius on April 16, organized by the Association of Local Authorities of Lithuania, representatives from municipalities responsible for strengthening ties with the diaspora and encouraging return to the municipalities took part.
The issues of returning to Lithuania in Ignalina
On 11 April, Ignalina District Municipality organised an event “Back to Lithuania: opportunities to create and grow in Ignalina District”, during which the topical issues of the diaspora policy, the activities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Consultation Centre “Grįžtu LT”, the possibilities of returning to Lithuania, and the importance of the connection with the compatriots abroad were presented.
Minister Budrys wishes to the band 'Katarsis' a successful diplomatic mission
On 2 April, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted the traditional visit of Lithuanian Eurovision representatives. Wishing the Katarsis band a successful diplomatic mission to promote the name of Lithuania, Mr. Budrys handed over the Lithuanian tricolor to the performers, which will accompany them to the world's biggest song contest.
2024 Report on the Implementation of Lithuania’s Diaspora Policy
At the March 25 meeting of the Commission of the Parliament of the Republic of Lithuania (Seimas) and the World Lithuanian Community, the report on the 2024 action plan for the strategic guidelines of Lithuania’s diaspora policy, “Global Lithuania,” was presented.

On 17 March, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted a discussion with representatives of Lithuanian colleges and the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport on the opportunities for young people from the diaspora to study in Lithuanian colleges.

On March 16, the fifth forum on Lithuanian language education titled “Lithuanian School: How Are We Building It Today?” was held at the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in the United Kingdom. The forum discussed innovations in Lithuanian language teaching, current academic research, and the expectations of diaspora youth regarding Lithuanian education institutions.
Lithuania Shares Diaspora Policy Experience with Moldova
On March 13–14, bilateral consultations between Lithuania and Moldova on diaspora policy implementation are taking place in Vilnius. During the consultations, representatives from the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other institutions are introducing officials from the Moldovan government chancellery to Lithuania’s experience in implementing diaspora policy and promoting return to the homeland.
March 11 in Kaunas Celebrated Together with Lithuanians Returning from Venezuela
On March 11, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kaunas celebrated the 35th anniversary of Lithuania’s Restoration of Independence together with persons of Lithuanian descent relocated from Venezuela and their family members. During the meeting, ministry representatives answered questions, while the Lithuanians who found new homes in Kaunas shared their experiences, joys, and concerns.
